Dr. Barnes possesses an extensive background in educational leadership. Prior to being appointed principal at Carl Stuart Middle School in Conway, Dr. Barnes was Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction at Russellville School District. Before that, Dr. Barnes led education initiatives at the state level as Director of Assessment and Accountability for the Arkansas Research Center and Deputy Director of Curriculum and Assessment at Arkansas Department of Education. Dr. Barnes also has experience working directly with students as a guidance counselor and as an English teacher at Rivercrest Jr. High School in the Rivercrest School District. Dr. Barnes believes that middle school is a very special time for children and loves the challenge of helping students discover their talents and pushing them to greatness. Being the principal at Carl Stuart Middle School allows him the opportunity to guide teachers in preparing students for their futures.
