Lindamood-Bell and Fort Smith Public Schools have been partnering to implement sensory-cognitive instruction district-wide since the start of the 2017-18 school year. This presentation will review the theory underlying the Lindamood-Bell programs, the structural changes Fort Smith made to implement process-based instruction, the use of a summer school model to triage support to struggling readers, and the continued growth into secondary implementation. Data reflecting substantial longitudinal changes in Universal Screener performance for K-2 students, as well as students receiving intervention will be shown. Educators will leave this presentation with an understanding of the role of sensory-cognitive process-based instruction, as well as ideas on how to make implementation work in their district.
