Absenteeism is the first indicator that a student will drop out of school. Poor attendance in the first month of school can predict chronic absence for the entire year; absenteeism in middle and high school can predict dropout rates; absenteeism influences not just chances for graduating but also for completing college; BUT when students reduce absences they can make academic gains. In this session you will hear from a school using data to better identify the attendance issues by individual, grade level, race, socio-economic status and several other categories. You will then get some ideas on how you school can change this trend.
