This presentation seeks to clarify the relationship between English Learners' English language development (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and the reading process (K-12). Using RISE as the framework for reading instruction, the presenters will focus on the components of the reading process for native English speakers and the areas where English Learners need specific instruction through additional support. The session offers information contributing to greater understanding of the second language acquisition process and effective reading instruction for Tier 1, 2 and 3. Outcome: ALL Arkansas students read!
