During this session, participants will explore the Fusion Reading program, discuss implementation ideas, and discuss the evidence supporting the program. Fusion Reading (FR) is designed to re-engage students in the reading process and support student development of foundational reading skills required for success in academic and career endeavors. The program includes components on motivation and engagement, classroom management, word-level reading skills, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. Most importantly, Fusion Reading supports instruction in the integration of all reading component skills and their generalization to core class content. FR is an evidence-based program for middle and high school students who have been minimally responsive to previous reading instruction. During this session, Dr. Hock will review the program’s components, share videos of classroom instruction, and answer participant questions.
