All educators work with students who need accommodations and interventions in order to be successful. Some students exhibit academic problems as a result of emotional stress. For other students, the frustration of not understanding the academic material causes them to act out. It is not easy for teachers to pinpoint exactly where the problems lie and implement the right strategies to ensure success. School functioning, behavior, interpersonal relationships, emotional concerns, and social maladjustment are discussed. Goal writing / intervention strategies that match common behavior problems seen in the classroom setting will be shared. Every school has its own unique culture and each school addresses the Response to Intervention process somewhat differently. That is to be expected. However, the basic tenets of the process are consistent. Nichols Behavior checklist, intervention wheels and additional tools will be shared. The RTI book will also be distributed as part of this session.
